Hi Debby
I have three mailing lists in Kentucky for three different counties.
Sometimes we have a lot of mail and then it gets very quiet. Frankly I
think it draws the county researchers closer to each other. You find out
where they are residing and a little about their families they are
researching...
You do get a few bounces of mail from people who no longer have a certain
address etc - but the adm. page is easy to take care of and delete the
address.
I will tell you of one instance...
I had a young man from Maryland came on the LBL-L list and wanted to know if
there was any more Cadizians on the list - I told him I was born in Cadiz
but left there in 1939 . I told him I was born in a little white house on
Garland Cunninghams property on the edge of town at the Gulf Station. I was
just actually welcoming this young man as he was so anxious to talk to
someone from Cadiz. Well--- Marion Donaldson from Texas read what I wrote
and she posted me.... ' In 1939 my mother took me to a little white house
behind the Gulf Station to see a baby that had a 'strawberry birthmark' on
its head... are you that baby?" --- Sixty years later I reached up and
touched my strawberry birthmark.....

Subject: Re: MAILING LISTS-
I would like to hear from the voices of experience...
Just how much work is it to coordinate a county mailing list?
Would
it really be a bad thing if someone else besides the cc managed the
mailing
list? I was kind of hoping someone would volunteer to do it, then I could
sub and put my 2 cents in when I have the time and knowledge about the
particular topic.
