Hi Amanda,
I grew up in Dubois County and went to Salem Church. I have copies
of Salem
records from 1850 to 1964. I also have the Dubois County cemetery
books and
marriage records as compiled by the Dubois County Genealogical
Society.
Both Johann Friedrich Klostermann (5 August 1822 - 11 March 1879) and
Caroline Meyer (25 October 1832 - 5 January 1929) are buried in
Fairmount
Cemetery in Huntingburg. They were married in Salem 1 April 1851.
Witnesses were Friedrich Klostermann and Caroline Meyer.
The baptismal record of Gerhard Heinrich says his sponsor was Gerhard
Heinrich Meyer, his grandfather. There is a Gerhard Heinrich Meyer
buried
in St Jakob/St James Lutheran Cemetery near Holland, Indiana. I
think it's
possible that he was Caroline Meyer's father. His death was 11 May
1888 at
the age of 74 years, 3 months.. I'll try to find info on his wife.
I don't have any info on Johann Friedrich Klostermann's parents.
I'll try
to find something on them, also.
My family database shows 8 children for the Klostermanns. I do not
have any
children for Gerhard and Rosina Klostermann. I do not have burial
information on either of them. They must have moved from Dubois
County.
Indeed, Rosina Propheter did marry Jacob Hummel on 3 August 1880 in
Salem.
This was 2 months before your Gerhard Heinrich married Rosina
Barbara Wolf
on 3 October 1880, also in Salem. Rosina Hummel was married to Johann
Friedrich Propheter (2 March 1817 - 11 March 1879) before her
marriage to
Hummel. Rosina Propheter Hummel (26 February 1836 - 25 February
1918) is
burried next to Johann Friedrich Propheter (2 March 1817 - 11 March
1879) in
Fairmount Cemetery.
Salem was organized in 1842 and had their own cemetery but started
using
Fairmount when it opened in 1876. None of the original gravestones
from the
Salem cemetery remain. There is a monument listing those known to
be buried
there.
Quite a few of the German settlers of Dubois County came through
Cincinnati.
We may find more info there.
If I can be of further help, please let me know.
