I tried sending this a bit earlier, but don't think it went. I'm sorry
if you receive duplicates. I'm trying to learn and get the kinks out of
Netscape Messenger.

in
Dubois County arose because I traced my mother-in-law's
grandfather back to this county via the census. His father,
Ernst Aufderhaar, came to Dubois County via New Orleans from
Ladbergen, Prussia at the age of about 30 in 1852. I have
successfully traced Ernst back to Ladbergen but am mostly
interested in finding the descendents of Ernst's other children
(because I'd like to share some dynamite old pictures). This has
been quite confusing because of another Aufderhaar family in the
county (still!) and similar names. So, the children of Ernst
Aufderhaar and Elizabeth Matilda Neumann I would love any
information about:
1) John (Johannes) Friederick b. 1857 married Katie Witt
in April 1885. I think they moved to Oklahoma, but I'm not sure
when. I would love to nail down their children's names & dates.
2) Johann Heinrick (Henry) b. 1858 who I assume didn't
have any children. He first married Emilie Goldacker in 1916 in
Colorado. She was already over 60 years old (as was he).
3) Jacob Herman b. 1860 my husband's great-grandfather.
Married Jessie Elvira Weaver in 1890. Lived in Colorado and
Oregon.
4) Karoline Palina b. 1864 who married William Rixse in
1891 in Dubois County. I haven't traced them any farther.
5) Otto Rudolph b. 1867. My mother-in-law remembers him
when she was a tiny child (1930s) probably in Colorado, but I
know nothing further about him.
6) Maria Elise b. 1871 and appears to have married Emmett
Myers about 1891. I know nothing about where they lived or were
married: not in the Dubois County index which goes until 1895.
Also, I have a marriage and a will index for Dubois County which
were compiled by Lillian Doane of Jasper, Indiana. Is Lillian
still alive or is a local society selling them? Does any one
know?
