I have recently traced my LANG & SCHEURICH ancestors to Niedernberg, Bavaria,
Germany.
Heinrich/Henry LANG was born in Niedernberg, Bavaria, 17 March 1809. He became a
shoemaker (as was his father and grandfather). He emigrated aboard the Bark Potomac,
landing at Baltimore, 18 October 1836. He married Catherine SCHEURICH two days later (20
October 1836) at St. John German Church, Baltimore. Catherine had also arrived aboard the
Bark Potomac. She was born 1812(?) in Niedernberg. She immigrated with her parents,
brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Some of them settled at Jasper, Dubois County,
Indiana. Henry & Catherine LANG lived in Indiana/Illinois? where they had at least
two children. In 1847 they settled on a farm near Sherrill, Dubuque County, Iowa, and
raised eight children.
I would like to learn where Henry & Catherine LANG lived before settling in Iowa.
You can read more about these LANGs and SCHEURICHs in the "Lang Family History"
at my website.
