Hi, Debbie,
I received a lot really good Gen information on those who served in the C W by
ordering Their Pension records from the National Archives, It has been
reasonable but I hear the price is going up on records this summer.
I Always put at the top of the form send all records . They send about 20 to 30
pages for $10.00
and then let you know how many pages are left and the price to receive them. The
papers that are left I have really found some information that is worth the
extra money.
The first they send you usually contains the death certificate address's to
where the pensioner lived at different times. some papers have Children names
and birthrates.
Some will have letters from family members who wrote to verify that the
pensioner
is who he said he was.
You would need the NATF form 80 to fill out .and send for each C W veteran you
want information on because they are handled separately.
Good luck La Raine

Hi. I am a novice at this and I need some big time help. I am
looking for
the following surnames, all of whom are my relatives. If you could help,
please contact me at holths(a)mtnhome.com.
Surnames: PAYTON/PENDLAY/CARMICHAEL/GILLHAM, especially Josephus PAYTON who
married Mary Margaret PENDLAY. I need their marriage date. Mary was
supposed half Miami of Ohio Indian. We would like to find out how to
confirm that, etc. JOSEPHUS served in the Civil War in the Indiana
Infantry, 97th Regiment, Co. G. We know that he and Mary had a son named
ULYSSES GRANT PAYTON, born in 1866, who married a LILLIE GILLHAM on Oct. 27,
1887, probably in Vincennes, but not totally sure. Thanks again for any
information. Debbie Holth
