Injured at Winchester---during Confederate charge, shell struck his
gun 10" below muzzle, gun at fix bayonet, knocked off top &
bent back bayonet against left side lung & head causing
concussion & pain. Detached service to guard train from 4 to
6-64. Mustered out a Chattahoochee River, Georgia 9-12-64.
Died at Duff, Indiana 9-26-1915. Buried at Velpen, Indiana,
Stilwell Cemetery.
