Thanks for your reply. I can see why you are a writer - you
certainly
have a way with words.
I have all the Haas geneology (on hard copy). But thanks.
Thank you so much for the info on Raven Rock. One of my ancestors
settled there -- not sure without looking whether it was the Haas's or
Dudine's. My dad had many memories of playing there. I hope it does
not get turned into a tourist attraction. I have directions to get
there, but the owners were not home and we did not want to trespass. I
am interested in the history of the area -- I wonder if your ancestors
and mine were there at the same time.
My dad's sister married a Blessinger. Adam. She lives in Jasper. We
had a huge family reunion in Jasper last July 4th. My dad grew up in
Schnellville. His father and then uncle owned the general store there.
I still have many cousins in the area -- Jasper, Birdseye, Schnellville,
Celestine.
My great aunt, Sister Frederica, was a Dudine and wrote a book "The
Castle on te Hill" containing information about families in the area.
Not sure how to find a copy, but I could check with my mom. My
brother's mother in law was a Wehr from Ferdinand. Sounds like your
family and mine have crossed paths, but probably no direct link.
Sounds like you had a busy day. I did too, and I'm afraid I am
rambling, so will leave this for now.
Nice chatting with you. Perhaps our paths will cross again.
