I am trying to find out what line the Samuel Jackson who married Rebecca
Speaks is from. I know he was born 14 Dec 1805 somewhere in Co.(as was
Rebecca.) They married in 1831 in Washington Co, IN. In the 1830 census he
was in Orange Co, IN, in 1840 Dubois IN, 1850 Crawford Co, IN, then by 1860
in Clay Co, IL. Their children were named Mary Elizabeth (so was Samuel's
mother a Mary Elizabeth?, Joseph, Samuel, Sarah, Richard, Edward, Rachel and
Robert. ) From this, some surmise that Rebecca was the daughter of Joseph L
Speaks and Sarah Galbraith(Galbreath.) Because in gap between Mary
Elizabeth's birth and the rest, several still births or early deaths are
possible, so it is possible that a first male child born died.
Joseph Speaks, born c 1780 prob in NC, and Sarah Galbraith b? were married
in Henry Co, in 1801. Daniel Colglazier was named guardian of Joseph and
Sarah Speaks children in 1822.

Mary,
Thank you for the Magruder post, part of that is useful to me.
Do you have further information on those Jackson's the Magruders
married? I work on Jackson lines, of which the the earliest ones were
all Catholic from MD, to Nelson, then Bullitt. They became later
Baptist, and are connected with the New Salem Baptist, Nelson, and over
in Bullitt at that one on Cedar Grove Road. Descendants, that is.
You mention All Hallow's Parish, Anne Arundel, MD. Is that an Episcopal
Church, or Catholic?
Do you have the DAR papers on the Revolutionary War person Capt. Joseph
Magruder? It would give more information on him. Maybe you have the
information already.
I have an idea those Maryland Jackson's are some I need to know about.
They may be part of the 5 separate Jackson lines I work on. Who in the
world needs 5 on one tree. Obviously cousins marrying cousins, but where
is the upper connection? You may have part of it, and I certainly would
appreciate the lead to more Jackson info.
Thanks in advance,
Billye D. Jackson
(husband is the Jackson)
