Thanks to someone else, I think I may have found a family line that I have
searched for over many years. See if you can help me verify.
Stephen Morgan and Frances Golden were the parents of Stephen Gesper Morgan
born 1834 in Hancock County, Ky. This is according to the Civil War pension
application of Stephen Gesper Morgan. He enlisted with the 12th KY Cavalry
in northern Mississippi 29 April 1863. I had found him in 1860 in Bolivar
County, MS and then after the war he is in Henderson/Decatur Counties, TN
until his death. I had not found him or his parents in MS, TN, or KY prior
to that 1860 census which listed just Stephen.
This is my new information:
March 1848 in Dubois County, IN a Frances Morgan marries Marcus S. Roberts.
According to the 1850 census, she was born in KY and living with them are5
Morgan children - Stephen G, Thomas, Mary J, Manerva, and Sarah F. On the
1860 census Frances Roberts is again a widow with 3 Roberts children and
also a Samuel Golden of an age to be a brother. He was also born in KY.
I also found a Permelia J. Roberts who married a Marion Ellis Oct 1841 in
Dubois County, IN.
Stephen Gesper Morgan names his 1st daughter Lillian Permelia, his 2nd Mary
Frances, and 1st son Thomas.
There seems to possibly be a connection between these 3 families - Roberts,
Golden, and Morgan. Is there anyone else on this list working these lines.
Can you verify or disprove any of this information? Could this be my KY
Morgan line?
Thanks for any help!
Oh, Stephen became and was at death a elder/preacher for the Meth Epis
Church of the South at his death in 1916.
