In my search for Dr. Raymond I have had some great help from Stephen Lewis who virtually
ruled out Dr. Raymond being on the roll of any British Regiment or in the Indian Medical
I remembered Moira Breen posting something about the Indian Medical Department which was
something like a poor relation to the IMS and mentioning that one of her ancestors who was
a qualified doctor was ranked as a Warrant Officer not a commissioned officer.
Thanks to Brinds and Gordon Inglis I have a list of the Native Field Hospitals which made
up part of the expeditionary force in the 3rd,, China War. I am assuming that Dr. Raymond
would have been attached to one of these units rather than to a British Field Hospital.
I am futher assuming that these hospitals between them would have comprised the entire
medical facilities for the expedition and that there would not have been medical units
attached to the individual regiments engaged.
Where would I be able to:
a) confirm my suppositions and
b) check personnel records for non-commissioned officers in Native Field Hospitals?
I would be grateful for any advice.
