Over a week or so ago I was looking at a FamilySearch microfilm on my home computer and
having great problems accessing the images.
This led me to start a topic in the Feedback section of the FamilySearch website called
Digitised microfilm - Plea for faster reader, including for digitised books.
The conclusion reached by the other participants to the topic (although there were no
FamilySearch employees) was that my problem was due to internet speed, on top of the fact
that the FamilySearch viewer is slower than comparable viewers. The time when I had most
problems I was looking at approximately 1pm Friday and Saturday, whereas Sunday morning
9.30 was better. However the time when I was having problems was probably the time when
most FamilySearch Centres would be open, if I were viewing digitised microfilms not
available on home computers.
If anyone on the List has any comments, particularly if you work at a FamilySearch Centre,
or Genealogical Society, please add these to the topic within FamilySearch Feedback.
(Currently the topic sits on page 4, or Search for it in the Search). You do need to have
registered with FamilySearch, but if you have ever made comments in the past, or ordered
microfilms online, you should already be registered.
The Feedback section is at the foot of the FamilySearch website https://familysearch.org
