Moira, for the British Army, see the FIBIS Fibiwiki page British Army,
section "Locating a regiment"
One of the sources (Kitzmiller's data) indicates that the 80th Regiment of
Foot were located in Sattara in 1861-62. However this is stated to be in the
North West Frontier, so whether this is the same as the cantonment of
Satara, alternative spelling Sattara, located in the Deccan, is not known.
The Indian Army may also have been located in Satara. The Indian Army Lists
would be expected to have this type of information. See the FIBIS Fibiwiki
page Indian Army, section Records
The FIBIS Fibiwiki has a page 80th Regiment of Foot.
. However, there
does not appear to be any mention of them being in Satara. If however, they
were only there for a short period, or perhaps it was only a part of the
regiment, the documentation may not be complete.
