Melanie, the FIBIS Fibiwiki has a page relating to Wills etc called "Wills,
Administrations, Probate and Inventories"
One of the links is a British Library page about records. This says:
Grants of Administration
1774-1948: L/AG/34/29 series. Mainly in cases of intestacy, with other cases
where the executor was not available or was unwilling to act. Name of
deceased, date of death, the High Court of the Presidency where the
administration was registered, the name and address of the person granted
administration of the estate.

Subject: [INDIA] Calcutta wills
Every once in awhile I find a reference to estate administrations/wills in
The Calcutta Annual Review or other similar publication. However, upon
looking in the British Library India Office Bengal wills collection, the
person's estate is not included. One such example is
Calcutta Annual Register
Administrations to estates, 1821
Lish, John, of Calcutta--James MacKillop, administrator
Does anyone know if documents relating to these administrations to estates
still exist, and if so, how to access them?
