Kitty has already taken me to task (quite rightly) on this one. I can do
little better than to copy my reply to her to the list as a whole:
I agree that it is a useful site. It just amused me that I found
myself on it, for no very good reason that I could think of, hence
my light hearted post. Perhaps there are other India-British-Raj
list members also on it?
In fact what I had done was make a Google search of the site as a
whole, not realising that it hosted a number of different
'sub-sites', of which Convicts to Western Australia.comes up as but
one. My name came up with an indication of the content, but I did
not then click on it to read it. In fact it would have led to
another 'sub-site', totally unconnected with Convicts to Western
While there is now a smattering of Sellons in Australia, their forebears
arrived well after the days of transportation. My original post was
meant to be amusing and I am sorry if I have raised any concerns over
the validity of the Convicts to Western Australia site. Could we please
put this down just to bad judgment on my part?
