I must thank you for pointing the way to two quite different but equally
The first 'Journal' is the very well written "Cursory Remarks, on board
the Ship Friendship"
I have still not finished reading this but I must say it is quite
fascinating and a wealth of detail. ... a view mostly, but not exclusively, from
the perspective of the passengers.
The second 'Journal' is "A Journal of a voyage to the Cape of Good Hope
and Bombay in the Ship
Sesostris " A great read and more to do with the life of the sailors
during this period. ... more the 'Nuts and Bolts' of how these sort of ships
really worked ...... Mostly, but again not exclusively, from the perspective
of the crew.
Thank you once again.
