I want a "Success Story" too. Please help me.
These are the questions I keep asking everyone:
(1) Stephen Smith married Susannah Martin. This has been confirmed by the Delaware
Historical Allliance.
He appears on the 1870 census, and we think he died in 1871, but we can not prove it.
(2) Martha Smith (born sometime between 1817-1822), daughter of Nathan and Rosanna Smith,
moved to Delaware County with her widowed mother in 1838. There is a Martha Smith that
married John Current. There are also several other Martha Smiths in that area at that
time. How do we prove which is the correct husband for our Martha Smith?
Rosanna died in 1860 and is buried at the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. I presume she and her
children attended the Mt. Tabor M. E. Church of Liberty Township. What ever happened to
the records of that church?
(3) Rosanna's daughter, Mary Smith, born 1814-1820 (the years between the births of
her siblings listed on her father's Morgan County Will. Who did she marry and where
did they go?
(4) Rosanna's daughter, Lucy Smith Lowry, died in 1847 and is also buried at Mt.
Tabor. Several of her children were given up for adoption at that time. (Apparently there
were too many for her husband to handle.) Would there have been adoption papers filed
"way back then"?
Any assistance received for my research is greatly appreciated.
