Barbara,
That's almost as mysterious as mine was...still is. Keep plugging and try
investigating every little thing you've ever heard or saw.

Shirley,
Since I know everyone likes stories..let me qualify my last post. My
grandmother had 4 children...2 sons and 2 daughters. Then she married my
grandfather and had 1 son and 2 daughters. The rumored story was she was
supposed to be able to get her first 4 children when they got married. As,
this was NEVER talked about or acknowledged, it has always been a puzzel as
to what happened. The HINTY children were raised (2 boys) by their father's
sister and husband.. The girls went to different families. I think one was
adopted and one not. I don't know for sure if it was an actual adoption.
My mother and her sister spent years and years in speculation and attempted
looking for this family that they did not even know really existed or not.
In 1984, my cousin sent a letter to "Woman's World" magazine and inquired
about the family name HINTY and BICE. Someone saw it and at that time the 2
HINTY sisters were alive. My mom and aunt made arrangements to meet and
before they could come the oldest sister died. Then my mom became ill so my
aunt and her daughters came to the MUNCIE area and met the remaining sister
and learned all about them. My sister and picked back up on the research a
few years ago and now thru the internet and a trip to Delaware county have
located a lot of info. In the book, THE HISTORY OF RANDOLPH COUNTY INDIANA,
all kinds of info and photos exist of the HINTY children.
All of this has been exciting, but my grandma still remains a mystery woman.
We have never been able to find out when/where/how she and my grandpa met or
were married, as he was from Michigan. We also discovered our grandmother
was at least 5 years older than she said she was. So....a good
story.....Barbara
