Mark,
Thank you for offering to set the stone. From what Mark Kreps found online,
John Smith was buried in Hinton Cemetery in Washington Township. I am going
to go out there today at 1:00 to see if I can locate the cemetery, and see
what condition it is in. I looked online and did not see any other Smith's
buried there. I am getting ready to call the Health dept.and see what
information they have, and I have already gotten in contact with the
Library, Mary Lou is researching him.
I have the stone in my car, it is in fairly good condition, it needs a good
cleaning, and looks as if it was broken off under the inscription. It looks
like it was in a slot at one time.
If you can get away today and meet me out there I will have the stone with
me. If not I will get back with you on the information I find.

Gina,
I will reset the stone no charge. Who is in charge of the cemetery, the
township,
or is it private. Either way we need permission.
If you can find his family in the cemetery we can surely find his burial
site.

Can anyone on this list claim John S. Smith died June 22, 1882. Buried
in Hinton
Cemetery, Washington Township???
His stone was stolen from the cemetery and relocated today in Muncie. I
am trying
to research a little information about this man. He aged 26 years
and 10 months according to the marker.
