Thank you Belinda and Sharon. I was afraid of that issue and I suppose it's handled
the same way as other census. I'm wondering if there isn't a way using the
freedom of information act or public records.
I'm open to all suggestions.

Shirley,
There is a confidentiality issue that covers the past 75 years. You can
check with the Indiana State Archives, which has prison records, but I
don't think they can help with the modern time frame because of this issue.

Is there such a thing as prison census or locating a person who might
have
been in prison? I'm specifically interested in IN or OH but possibly IL
too. Time frame would be 1967 to present.
