In PA the PA Dept of Corrections has a website that has an inmate locator
that will tell you where a current inmate in being housed. Old records do
not particularly interest them and they don't keep those available for
search. This is the link for searching in IN.
http://www.in.gov/serv/indcorrection_ofs That much is public information.
Probably IL and OH have a similar set up. It will not give you county jail
info, only state and not information about inmates no longer in prison. If
you know what county they lived in you could look for court records. cbj

Subject: [INDELAWA-L] Prison census
Is there such a thing as prison census or locating a person who might
have
been in prison? I'm specifically interested in IN or OH but possibly IL
too. Time frame would be 1967 to present.
