Yes, the old county infirmary served many purposes for the poor, elderly, orphans and
infirm. It was, as you say, on 32 east going towards Parker. I've posted a picture
or two on the website of the old place. Later, an orphanage was built in town and then on
32 west (toward Yorktown) but the infirmary stood for awhile for the rest of the above
named uses.

I'm not sure about this and my comment is only based on memory, not
research, but in the 1950's I remember my grandmother talking about the
county infirmary as being a nursing home for the indigent. People would
dread to put their family members there, I suppose because of the level of
care provided. If my memory serves me right it was on Highway 32 just
outside Muncie on the way to Parker (I think that is highway 32 - it's been
too long and I haven't lived in Muncie for a long time). My grandmother had
to put her father in the county infirmary and felt very sad about it.

anyone tell me exactly what that was?
