Thomas Williams and Francis (Ferguson) Williams from OH moved to
Delaware County. One of Thomas Williams children was Mary Elizabeth
Williams (b.11 Nov 1831) who married Thomas C. Poor in Delaware
county on 20 Oct 1848. Mary 'Elizabeth' Williams died 23 April 1855
and is buried with 2 of her children who died 1850 and 1855 in
Granville Cemetery. Thomas C. Poor married again, a Martha Haynes. He
and Martha went on to name their firstborn from 2nd marriage after
the dead wife: Mary Elizabeth. They then proceeded to name last child
(12th) also after one of the deceased children from first marriage:
James E. Poor. I always thought 'how callous' until I solved this
mystery. One of Thomas Williams boys (who would be then brother to
Mary elizabeth Williams, the first wife) named Enochull or Enoch
Morrison Williams was married to Cordelia Haynes, who is sister to
the Martha Haynes that Thomas C. Poor went on to marry as 2nd wife.
They would have all known each other as they socialized, so no doubt
the 2nd wife Martha Haynes was also good friends with Mary Elizabeth
Williams, first wife..and grieved her loss as well and was only too
happy to name their firstborn after a lost 'family' member. I offer
this little tidbit for anyone researching WILLIAMS or HAYNES.
