I have a book that I purchased at the Elwood Haynes home
in Kokomo titled
"Indiana Built Motor Vehicles" by Wallace Spencer. It
lists 522 different
automobiles built in Indiana. The Haynes Apperson Co.
built:
Haynes Apperson 1895-1902 Kokomo
Horsey Horseless 1899 Kokomo
Haynes 1904-1925 Kokomo
Also in Kokomo were:
Kokomo built by Kokomo Cycle Co. 1910-1911
Goabout built by Standard Manufacturing co. 1901-1911
Mohler built by Apperson Bros. 1901
Silver Apperson built by Apperson Bros. Auto Co.
1917-1919
There were many manufacturers in Anderson, Indianapolis,
Muncie, Elkhart,
Fort Wayne, and many other cities. even Noblesville, New
Castle, Fairmount,
and Pittsboro. The book I have is the Centenneal Edition
and was published
by The Indiana Historical Society in 1994. If you like
old autos, there is
a world of info.
