Hi all. While at a rummage sale yesterday, I acquired 14 old pictures.
Almost all of these folks lived in Delaware Co. Some of these had names on
them. Spending several hours researching on the net yesterday I have been
able to positively identify most of these. These include 2 pictures of
Mathew McCormack (born 25 Sept. 1833), one of his brother, Joseph, and 2 of
his sister, Rachel. All three of these are children of William McCormick
(born abt. 1812). One of the pictures of Rachel is of her with her husband,
Nicholas POLAND, and family. I can identify one of the children in the
group picture as Ulysees Grant POLAND, son of Nicholas and his first wife,
Martha Jane DICKOVER. Of the others in the photo, I cannot be certain
whether they are children of Nicholas with his first wife; or children of
Rachel and a previous husband. There is also another picture of Ulysess
Grant POLAND, who was apparently a doctor in Delaware Co.. There is also a
picture of Annie POLEN, and another marked "wife of John C. POLEN". I
don't
know how John connects to Nicholas, but am certain he does, as these photos
all came from the same place. I found John C. Polen in Tuscarawas Co., OH
in several census records. The first record I find him in is 1900, and he
is married to "Ona". This is John's second marriage, and Ona's 1st.
Further research uncovered that Ona was actually Iona Temple. The pictures
marked "wife of John C. Polen", and the one marked "Annie Polen" seem
to be
the same person. I assume Annie must have been the first wife of John C.
Polen.
I would like to be able to put these pictures into the hands of a
descendant. I will expect to be re-imbursed for my cost of the photos, and
my time spent determining who these folks were, in order to try to contact a
decsendant. These are original pictures. All appear to have been taken
approximately 1880-1890. They are all in very good condition.
