Dear Ms. Royer,
My name is Keith Lawrence, not sure if my response to your query will lead to
anything or not, but I will send this anyway.
I have a great great aunt by the name of Louise Owsianny/Lawrence, Louise met and
married a man by the name of John W. Mansfield who was born in Ohio in 1862. John and
Louise had a son by the name of Earl Mansfield who was born in Minneapolis in 1895.
Shortly after Earl was born, John W. Mansfield left his family, where he went to I have no
idea, I am trying to find out when he died and where he is buried. (Louise divorced John
about 1905, he never responded to a summons which was printed in many papers, and the
divorce was granted in Minneapolis, Minnesota). Louise passed away in 1928 and her son
Earl in 1977, they are both buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Minneapolis.
I found the 1885 Dakota Territorial Census which listed the following:
D. A. Mansfield Mother age 49 OH
S.W. Mansfield Son age 29 OH
John Mansfield Son age 28 OH
Stella Mansfield Other age 9 IN
I believe that Stella is a niece of D. A. Mansfield
According to the research that I have done, Stella Mansfield was born in Muncie,
Indiana on January 2, 1878 the daughter of Charles Mansfield and his wife Cordelia
(McCormick) Mansfield.
Stella met and married Chauncey D. Helm on September 24, 1898 in Delaware County,
Indiana. The had two children that I know of, a son John and a daughter Madeline N. Helm
who was born February 16, 1904.
Chauncey and Stella moved to San Jose, California where Stella passed away on
September 15, 1972. There daughter Madeline passed away on June 22, 1999 in Fremont,
California.
Should any of the above mentioned names sound familiar, please feel free to contact
me!
