Well, folks you have been doing a great job ( the pieces are falling into place). But we
have one problem.
Yes, I received the information that William Walling married Mary A. Hamilton on December
16, 1843.
And the 1860 Center Township census and the will of Stephen A. Hamilton confirm that the
four daughters Irene Walling mentioned in 1986, were Salina, Ellen, Ann, and Mary.
I was told by another researcher that Mary Ann (Hamilton) Walling died on December 1,
1858, in Muncie.
And thus, John D. Walling born in about 1854, was her son.
But then I checked the Delaware County GenWeb Marriage Index and learned that William
Walling married Lusetta (sic) Smith on October 3, 1852 C2 page 587. (Six years before his
wife died? Were they divorced?)
Now if William Walling married Lucetta Smith in "1852" to care for his four
daughters, and William's first wife was still live, we have a problem! (Maybe he
divorced her?)
Did someone make a mistake, or were there two William Walling families and someone has
combined the two families to make one family?
I do note with interest that another researcher indicates that William's father,
Joseph Walling, was buried at the Beech Grove Cemetery. Is that the "large
cemetery" that was never entered on the Delaware County, IN, GenWeb Burial Index?
Thank you to everyone who has been sending information.
