Am not related, just trying to help. Spelling is as I found it. In the 1900 census for
Decatur county, Fugit township, Dist 53, page 16A, there was a family headed by James
Evans, 40, born in 1860 (month not shown), widower, farmer, born in Ind as were both
parents, and included his son Birnie, 19, born Sep 1880, a farm laborer, born in Ind as
were both parents. Could not find Grace in the 1900 census. Birnie Evans married Gracie
Cunningham in Decatur county on 17 Jan 1901, source is book P, page 121. If you can find
someone in Decatur county to look at that record there is a possibility that the parents
are listed also. In the 1910 census for Decatur county, Fugit township, Dist 4, page 9B,
the family was headed by Birnie Evans, 29, married 1 time for 8 years, a farmer, born in
Ind as were both parents, and included his wife Grace A, 29, married 1 time for 8 years,
mother of 3 all still living, born in Ind and both parents in US, his son Roy, 8, Ind, his
son Ralph, 2,!
Ind, and his son Paul, 9/12. Ind. When he registered for the WW1 draft, Burnie Evans
was 37, listed his DOB as May 5, 1881, next of kin was Grace Evans, he was a self employed
farmer, living at RR2, New Point, in Decatur county. In the 1920 census for the same
township, Dist 58, page 13A, the family was headed by Bearnie Evans, 39, farmer on a
general farm, born in Ind as were both parents, and included his wife Grace A, 38, born in
Ind, father in Ind and mother in Missouri, his son Roy, 17, a farm laborer, Ind, his son
Ralph, 11, Ind, his son Paul, 9, Ind, his son Thomas, 5, Ind, and his daughter Ethel B, 1,
Ind. In the 1930 census the family was in Rush county, Union township, Dist 16, page 4A.
and was headed by Bernie Evans, 50, first married at 21, farmer on a general farm, and
included his wife Grace A, 48, first married at 18, his son Thomas, 15, farm laborer, and
his daughter Bernice, 12. All born in Ind as were both parents. Hope this helps. Don
