Hi Sarah,
I don't know why they got married in Howard County. Holmes's father, Ezekiel,
shows up in the 1860 census in Grant County, so I guess the McCoy family lived up in the
Grant and Howard County area. But I don't know any reason that they weren't
married in Delaware County.
The first child of the ten I have on record for them is Henry who was born about 1859. My
only record of him is with the family in the 1870 census.
Have you done any research on Catharine's father, Patrick Justice? I've spent a
LOT of time trying to confirm my theory about his history, but never come up with any
really solid evidence. I believe he was the son of Joseph and Nancy Justice and was born
in Maryland about 1791. The family then moved down into North Carolina, settled briefly in
Virginia, and then sometime around 1810 headed for Indiana. But that's just a THEORY
based on lots of scraps of evidence.

Thanks so much. Have you any idea why they got married in Howard Co?
Couples usually get married in the home county of the bride which would
be Delaware County in this case.
Also. do you know the name of their first child?
