I have been in contact on occasion with J Laird, who is a failrly proficient researcher of
the Priest family. He too lists Jeremiah Jr, husband of Hannah Helvie as the son of
Jermiah Sr. I iwll try to look through his research some more regarding John's
family.
The Helvies are originally from Ohio as were the Priests during this time (1800s). The
Helvie family cemetery is not far from Honey Creek cemetery (resting place of Jeremiah
Priest Sr) Jeremiah Sr. was originally buried in a cemetery on his own land just down the
road, but that was destroyed by a flood in the early 1900s and his and his wife's
markers were moved to Honey Creek. I have asked Mr Laird if he thinks it may be possible
that Jeremiah Jr and Hannah were buried on Jeremiah's land in Clark County, Ohio. I
await his reply. I wouldn't focus too much on the birthdates as they were often
guesses or just wrong. Ther Helvie family intermarried with the Priests quite often from
what I am told. I forget...what is the family lineage of Jeremiah' and Hannah's
for yourself that you are tracing (Mark...Samuel). I too am from Delaware County
orginally.
