Thank you for all of this good information.
The other Dungan researchers can find no names for the children for most of
these families. (Benjamin's children are listed in a Delaware County, IN,
history.)
Another factor is that many parents died young and the children then lived
with aunt and uncles.
I have seen that several times.Three times I was able to find documentation
that the head of the household's wife did not give birth to all of these
children. One boy was living with his uncle. Four siblings were living with
their aunt who was unable to have children. Two boys were sent to Indiana to
live with their uncle because their father died. So maybe the Dungan's also
had "orphans" to deal with. And Samuel was a nephew from a Dungan brother
did not live in Indiana.
What I hope to do today is to write to Delaware County, IN, and see if there
are any wills/probate for John, Joseph, and Benjamin. (The Delaware Burial
Index has no "Dungan" burials listed.) Does that mean they were buried (1)
Be hind the barn? (2) Buried in an abandoned cemetery that later became a
farmer's field?? (3) Buried in a cemetery that has not yet been indexed by
the volunteers in Delaware County, IN?
Do you connect to the Dungans in Delaware County, IN, or just to those in
the other Indiana counties?
