Yorktown/Mt. Pleasant Twp. Historical Alliance
Greetings! My, how time got away. February literally flew by and, as I look at my
calendar and clock, I am reminded that there are still 30 days in most months and 24 hours
in a day but my schedule isn't reflecting that. On a personal basis, I have had way
too much to do lately.
That being said, let's move on to business.
Listed below are three meetings I've managed to schedule for the Alliance:
All meetings will begin at 7:00 pm.
Date
Location and Topic
April 17
Town Court - Today's happenings - Do you know what is not under our sidewalks?
Our mysterious Indian mound and other things as time permits.
May 22
Yorktown Fire Station - History of the Yorktown Fire Department to include a tour of
the station
June 19
Cammack Methodist Church - History of Cammack Church, Cammack and Reed Station areas.
(Still in the planning stage.)
Please plan to attend - bring a friend or neighbor - and any information or pictures that
you might have that relate to the above subjects.
With the help of Mary Dunscombe, the display cabinet at the Yorktown Library continues to
be used. At the moment, the library is offering Crocheting Classes, so I have several
older crocheted items and instruction books on display. Mary loaned some vintage Easter
items. Some props were borrowed from Belle E. Buttons and Metal Works Fine Jewelry helped
to complete this display. Mary Dunscombe provided enough vintage Christmas and New Year
items that we also did a display at that time.
Other news will be announced at the meetings. Hope to see you all in April.
Feel free to call if you have questions or comments.
