Janni,
You may want to do a search through the court records online on the
Library's website.
If the child was illegitimate she may have sued the father for Bastardy.
I did a random search last night on Jackson and didn't see her name listed
but you may want to do variations or a search just on paternity cases.
I have been lucky enough to find two different cases for my family tree.
We had always wondered who the father was of my Great Grandmother's brother.
I had searched for it when the database first opened and it was not there
but I did a search again a few months ago and it was online.
If you don't find anything today, check back later the girls at the library
update the court documents regularly.
Hope this helps,
Gina Richardson

Subject: Re: [INDELAWA] Chalista Jackson
Hi. Thanks for this good answer. The main blockage here is that I do not
know WHO the father was. I checked up and down on the census, the families
near Chalista's home, trying to find a young man of similar age where a baby
was listed but was unable to pinpoint anyone. If I knew the surname of the
father or the father's name, it would be easier to figure it out.
Does anyone know if there is a listing of children who were registered as
illegitimate when born?
Thanks again.
Janni
