To the person who asked for information on the above:
Have you read "Iron Men, Iron Will - the Nineteenth Regiment of the Iron
Brigade" by Craig L. Dunn?
William Roby Moore was mentioned in that publication.
For one thing, his father could not leave his large family, so he sent
William Roby. IF I remember correctly, he was assigned an office job
because he was so young. When he returned to Muncie, he became a telegraph
operator. It was he that received the message that Lincoln had been shot.
Ok, going through my notebook, here is the statement I was looking for. The
History of the 19th Indiana tells of William R.Moore whose father enrolled
him at the age of 14. As the father felt more obligated to stay home with
his young family, but wished to serve in some manner, so offered the
services of his son.
Yes, I know this does not answer your question, but it was interesting.
(Even though the age is off about two years.)

Message Board Post:
I'm looking for the burial location for William Roby Moore. He was born 9
March 1845 and died in San Diego CA 8 July 1926. He was a member of
Company K, 19th Indiana Infantry during the Civil War and had a finger
shot off while carrying the flag at Gettysburg. His obit in the Muncie
Morning Star says he died in San Diego and " The widow will accompany the
body to this city and burial will be made at the Parker-Moore Cemetery."
I've been there twice and he does not have a headstone there. His parents
are there but not him or his wife Susanne. He was a fairly successful
businessman so I find it hard to believe they couldn't afford a headstone.
Maybe the plans to bury him at Parker Moore Cemetery were changed.
Any thoughts or information would be greatly appreciated.
