The only James Wood I show was a tailor born in Greenfield, Ohio and married to a Susan
Gregory. He first moved to Anderson in 1840 and later to Hamilton Twp, Delaware County,
IN.
I show a William H.H. Wood and his father, Joseph, from Wayne County - both born there.
His paternal grandparents, David and Rebecca were from VA. William was married to a
Sophronia Darnall.
There was a Julius Wood, born Wayne County, son of Joseph & Sophia, and brother to
William H. H. Wood.

On February 24, 1850, John Wood married Lodisa (sic) Preston in Delaware County, IN.
In 1850, they were found in Monroe Township, Randolph County, IN.
At that time, John was 30, a farmer, born in Maryland.
Lodicia (sic) was listed as age 34, born in Ohio.
Living with them in 1850, was Phineas Preston, who we are thinking may have been her
brother.
Living next door to John Wood was James Wood, age 44, farmer, born in Maryland.
(So can we presume that John and James Wood were related?)
In James's house is his wife, Hester, and their children:
William age 14, Nathan age 11, Nancy age 9, James age 8, and George W. age ??
I have seen reference to James Wood - with references to the "A Portrait and
Biographical Record of Delaware and Randolph Countys, Ind. " 1894. Does this
publication also mention John Wood?
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who can tell more John Wood and his wife,
Lodiga/Lodisa/Louisa Preston. (She might be one of those "forgotten lst
marriages" because she died a few years later and is buried in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery
on the same plot with Harriet (Preston) Smith, who we believe may be her sister.)
