Looking for death date for Benjamin F. Clevenger. In the 1880 census for
Monroe Twp., Delaware Co., he is still head of the home, with wife Angeline
and son John Cooper with a servant listed. He is listed as nearly blind.
Angeline died in 1885 in KS, but at the time Benjamin could not be located.
If he was blind and no one to care for him, where would he have gone, and is
there a record of deaths there? I have not been able to find a listing for
his death. Not in Delaware County or in Ohio where he was born. Any more
ideas?

Try contacting the Indiana School for the Blind, since they were established
since 1847, perhaps they may have old school records of him?

Hello Margaret in ARK,
Look at the 1900 census in Highland co Ohio , Ancestry has him as
Benjamin T. but look closely at the census , it is a definite F. he married
again to an Elizabeth abt 1887 , they were married 13 years on this census.
There is a grandson w/ them John Tedrick ( I found John again in 1910) .
The question is never asked nor mentioned about his eye trouble in any
census after 1880.
In 1900 he is a farmer & Elizabeth is a carpet weaver. In 1900 the birth
month was asked .... Benjamin was born Nov 1835 ; Elizabeth July 1830 in
both in Ohio.
An Elizabeth is found in 1910.Ohio, Darke Greenville ; sheet 17A ; ED 80
; May 25, 1910 ; She is an inmate in Darke county Infirmary ; Line 30, they
put 0 in age ; widowed ; had 6 children , one living. Born in Ohio ; parents
born Ohio. If this was his wife , she was a widow by 1910 & living in this
infirmary.
I did find the death of the above Elizabeth in Ohio Aug 12, 1919 , she
was a widow. She had very little known about her i.e. parents, spouse , she
was 83 plus and living in the infirmary. She is listed as born July 1836
I did NOT find any death for Benjamin . Elizabeth was buried in Darke county
Ohio in Darke infirmary Cemetery on Aug 13, 1919. , she was a widow. The
info was given by Mrs. J.B. Wilson . Elizabeth was listed as Greenville ,
Jackson township as her residence.
If this all adds up then he was not alone at the end of his life.
I hope this is some help.
