Thank you, Shirley. I appreciate your help very much.
Perhaps if I rephrased my question.
If you were looking for a marriage record in Indiana around 1870 where
would you look? Is there a central archive in Indian where all the marriage
records for all counties are located? Or would a person have to go from
county to county to county looking?
Are the marriages listed at the link below complete so that even if I went
there I would find exactly the same listings which would be a waste of
time?

Are there any state census records for Indiana available anywhere?
The person that I am working on right now has a very large complicated
story. I have exhausted every other possible lead to break this. This
Margaret Anthony is my last hope for solving this puzzle of my ancestor. I HAVE
to find her marriage record somewhere, somehow. The only clue I have is
that she supposedly marries a man by the name of James Scott and has a son in
1876 named Leslie Moses Scott in Minnesota. Again, there is NOTHING
ANYWHERE! I've looked extensively but can't find them anywhere. This Leslie
Moses Scott should be about 4 years old in 1880 but I can't find a trace of
him or his mother or father in 1880. (They are most likely divorced by
1880.) There was even a state census taken in 1875 in Minnesota which is online
and searchable. I've spent a LOT of time looking and looking but there is
nothing. I know from past experience that there is most likely some piece
of information that I am missing, some clue that I just don't have that
would solve this.
I live about 6 hours from Liberty, Delaware, Indiana. If I have to I will
go but I could really use some help with knowing exactly where to go and
what to search. If you are experienced with researching in Indiana I would
really appreciate some feedback on exactly what you would do to try to
solve this.
Thank you
Janet

I have checked the Portrait and Biographical Record of Delaware County,
Indiana, 1894. I show Anthony's and McCulloch's but none with the names
you're listing. I read them all thoroughly. Wish I could be more help.
Perhaps checking with the Local History and Genealogy Library here in Muncie
would produce some results. They are in the throes of moving to another
building so it could take awhile for results.

I am seeking information specifically on Margaret Anthony, born in 1852,
in Delaware County, Indiana. Her parents were Clinton Anthony and Lydia
Bentley. His parents were Joseph Anthony and Margaret McCulloch.
I have found Clinton and Lydia in the 1850 census. They both seem to
disappear after that, though I know that Clinton lives into the 1880's. I
find
two children of theirs living with his parents in 1860. Their names are
Joseph and Margaret (the one I am looking for.) In the 1870 census Joseph
is
still living with his grandparents but Margaret is gone. I can't find her
anywhere and I have spent a very long time searching. She would be about
19
years old so most likely has married and I just do not know her new
surname.
Does anyone have this family in their tree or access to any records that
might help, specifically a marriage record somewhere around 1870, give or
take a few years, for Margaret Elizabeth Anthony?
I would very much appreciate some help.
Thank you.
Janet
