I've never checked for adoption records anywhere, but those are generally handled by
the courts. So you would check first with the Clerk's office.
Adoption records are generally "sealed" in Indiana, but I don't know if that
includes old records, or how far back that goes. If you can't find out via this
list, you could go to Indiana Legal Services Organization website and do a word search for
"adoption." You will see current and non-current laws. Or maybe the
Clerk's office will have some knowledge, but I would verify it.
Bracken Library at BSU and the Muncie Public Library are other sources for original
Delaware Co records.
