I'd like to know about Niles Twp. too. My husband's father's Smiths/
Edwards/Hance/ Petersons, etc., are all there from about 1830 on, and I'd
like to contribute to that one especially.

Hello Christine:
I have SMITH in my ancestry, too, and I don't know much about this line.
I'll tell
you what I have so far to see if there might be a connection with your
line:
For years all I've known was that Elizabeth SMITH, married William
BEAUCHAMP on the Eastern Shore of MD, possibly in early 1770s. I knww
nothing of her parents, siblings, or where she was born. I received a
reply to my email in the WAYNE CO, IN Query Page on the BEAUCHAMP family
from Kris Battaile <battaile(a)mysurf.com>.
Kris got her information from "Family Tree Maker CDs 1-5 and 8-12, and
she
specifically mentioned Vol. 11 as the source of Sarah Elizabeth SMITH's
name.
Sarah Elizabeth SMITH married William BEAUCHAMP in 1774, possibly
Dorchester Co, MD.
Their firstborn was named Henry Smith BEAUCHAMP, so possibly Elizabeth's
father was
named Henry SMITH.
William and Elizabeth (SMITH) BEAUCHAMP were associated with the
"Nicholites" or "New
Quakers" in Dorchester Co, MD and they were members of the Quakers in
North and South
Carolina, Tennessee and Ohio.
About Niles Twp, Delaware Co, I'm researching my AMERICAN INDIAN
ancestors:
William SCOTT, born 1785, VA; married 1820, Greene Co, OH; died 15
Jun
1860, Niles Twp, Delaware Co, IN; buried Bethel Cemetery near
Albany.
He served in the War of 1812 (OH or IN) and he bought 160 acres of
land
in Niles Twp in 1836. I need information on his parents, siblings
and
place of birth.
Martha O. DENTON, born abt 1900, VA. I need information on her
parents,
siblings and place of birth.
Children of William and Martha O. (DENTON) SCOTT:
Mariah SCOTT, born abt 1822, PA; married 1841, Ross Co, OH;
resided IN
Benjamin SCOTT, born abt 1825, OH
James W.SCOTT, born abt 1830, OH
Priscilla SCOTT, born abt 1834, OH
Sarah SCOTT, born abt 1840, IN
I need birthdates and spouses of
William and Martha's children
Thanks, Yvonne <ygrimmer(a)jps.net>
