Hi You may want to try to get the complete Probate. If he is a son, he may
have tried to get his fair share.
Also, doing a search of deed records may turn up a land transaction between
them. He may have gotten his inheritance before Francis died.
When did Hugh Die?

Hugh Carrel HARRIS was born in 1818 in Ohio, but moved with his
family at
an early age to Delaware Co., IN and grew up there. His father's
name was
Francis. I found in Delaware Co., a land record for Francis HARRIS 1831, a
marriage of Francis HARRIS and Nancy EGNUE 1840 (a second marriage?). The
Delaware Co. Historical Soc. flyer showed an abstract of a probate record
1845
for Francis Harris, listing wife, Nancy and several children - but
Hugh was
not listed. Some minor children were in Perry Co. OH, where the 1820 census
lists Francis HARRIS. Hugh had moved to IL and married Nancy Hodge in 1840.
Maybe he didn't need an inheritance?? His father disowned him??.
Would sure like to know, for sure, if any of these are my
gg-grandfather.
How could I find out?
