Below is a copy of a message I just sent to Indiana Roots concerning my
Neeley lines.

Subject: NEELEY/Delaware Co.
My husband's mother was a Neeley from Muncie. Mind you this is not THE
Neely family (note spelling difference), as they are often called, the
family of the well-known photographer, diarist, etc. This family has its
roots in Warren Co., Ohio, and I can trace it back no farther.
My m-in-law's father was Homer Vollney Neeley, who died in 1936 in Muncie.
His father was Alonzo (Milton Alonzo) Neeley, born in Ohio in 1852, and
died in the state hospital in Richmond, IN, in 1926
Alonzo's father was Bates Neeley, born 1826, place unknown, perhaps Ohio.
Bates married Hannah WILLIAMSON, an Irish immigrant, in Warren
Co., OH, in 1846.
Their Children were:
John D. Neeley
William H. (Hugh?) Neeley
Milton Alonzo Neeley, m. Missouri Ann Crouch in 1872
Rebecca W. Neeley, m.________ Mann
Mary Margaret Neeley, m. _________Campbell
Sarah J. Neeley, m. John M. Silvers, 1881
Elizabeth Anna Neeley m. Edward J. Borman, in 1886
Bates and Hannah moved to Jay County, Indiana by the 1860 census, and in
the 1870 census are in Delaware Co., IN. Bates died in November of 1877
as a result of an injury to his hand suffered while working at the
McKendry Foundry in Muncie. Hannah died in 1900, and her living children
are listed in her obit. John lived in Portland then, Rebecca in
Indianapolis, Marge in Hartford City, Sarah in Ridgeville, and Elizabeth
in Indianapolis. William is listed as unable to locate, having left
Muncie about a year earlier.
I have more on this family, which I will share if it connects with anyone.
