Good Afternoon Folks!
Thank you for responding on my Orr family. Yes, Joyce please ask your
father about the elderly orr man who ran the cafe in Windsor. I do not
know where Windsor is either, but he could have been relation to our
Orrs.
And Matthew, is the Orr Cemetary you speak of on Orr Rd. east of Muncie
considered Liberty Twp in Delaware County?
I've another question if someone can help. Where is the Bortsfield
Cemetary located as to the Orr Cemetary? Are they within a few miles of
each other? And where, or how far is Eaton from Selma?
I ask for I know that David Perry Orr, son of my Joseph Orr evidently
lived in Eaton as I believe others of the Orr family did. He moved there
from Selma and I was curious as to how far it is from Selma.
Another puzzler. My Aaron Jackson Sholtey that married Josephine Orr
(d/o Joseph Orr) remarried a Sarah Bergdill/Bergdoll in 1880 after the
death of Josephine. she is supposedly buried in the Orr Cemetary,
Liberty Twp. On the listing of Delaware County Cemetaries (on the
net/Damon Floyd's page), there are LOTS of Orrs, mine included, BUT not
Josephine. Aaron, herhuband, was buried in the Bortsfield Cemetary, no
sign of Sarah, second wife! I find it strange that he was not buried
along side of Josephine as the two of them had all the children and
Aaron had none with his second wife Sarah. ALTHOUGH, Aaron's parents and
a couple of other siblings are in the Bortsfield Cemetary. I just find
this strange they were'nt buried at the same place. Was this comman in
those days? Family history has it that this second wife DID NOT like
children and as Josephine died at age 34, Aaron was left with the bunch
of them. Sarah eventually shipped the younger ones off with the older
siblings (my great grandma included)! Family rumor also has it that
Aaron might have married a third time! Do not know what happened to
Sarah.
Boy do I wish I could go and visit the Orr Cemetary Matthew! But, I live
in Kansas, so that's not possible for me. But thought it was neat there
was an Orr Road!
Kind Regards All,
Tammy
