THE OLDER OBITS/NEWSPAPERS back to 1800's are on micro film at the Lib.
downtown Muncie, the phone number is (765)747-8208. To my knowledge
besides finding them through the funeral home if your lucky, this will
be the only place in Muncie who has them, that is obits.

Recently, someone posted the website address for the Muncie Star/Press paper
in regards to obituaries. Unfortunately, they do not have obituaries, old
or new on-line yet. I wrote the webmaster to find out how to get some
copies and he gave me this name and number: Breena Wysong, Muncie
Star/Press Librarian, 765-213-5836. I spoke with her today and she was
extremely helpful. She said that currently, they have obituaries listed in
their own computer system from 1970 to present. Anything older than that
would have to be obtained through other means (court house, etc.). Lucky
for me, two of the five obits I'm looking for met that criteria! They are
$2.00 for each copy, and mine were able to both fit on one sheet, so she
didn't charge me twice! If you are interested in using the Star/Press for
an obit, make sure you call first to make sure she has it, if so then you
can mail a check her way. Here's the address:
Muncie Star/Press
Attn: Library
345 South High Street
Muncie, IN 47307
I hope this helps someone.
