Jill...
I have seen Thankful listed in the Rees Cemetery booklet with parents as
Isaac and ??, which was written in by hand. I also made a note that she was
probable daughter of Isaac. I would have to go through David's Civil War
Pension File again to determine why I put Thankful with David. I think she
was daughter of David and another wife or daughter of Elizabeth and another
husband! I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I'll check his file
(which is fairly large). I have such a cold, you wouldn't believe. My head
is full of rocks.
I think the Delaware County Biographies are an off shoot from the Delaware
County Historical Alliance and are excerpts from Bowen. They are good for
ideas to continue searches but many have quite a few errors, and need to be
checked out. In one, my ancestor Thomas Hackett Brown, is referred to as
"Thomas from Hackett". I really did laugh out loud.. funniest thing I had
seen for awhile.
Glad you found some Coopers. I have information on Martha Patsy Brown and
hubby Iredell Cooper who were in Iowa by 1842. I found their gravesites via
the Internet, there in Ringgold County. Was quite exciting. They had only
three sons and all three in Civil War. One died in Andersonville Prison,
another died in war, and only Ira M made it back home. He married a
Hamblin...Do you know of any Hamblins? I have some information coming on the
Andersonville death. Another interesting situation is that a bunch of
Quaker Browns went to Ringgold Co from Wayne and Henry Cos, in the 1850's
but they were in Hickory County. I wonder how that situation developed, and
if they found one another!
David Brown and wife Amelia Gibson were in Illinois and moved around there
pretty good. Just got a picture of their son Asail (who came back to
Delaware Co to enlist for the Civil War), and a picture of his son Asa.
David remarried after Amelia died, but I have to get that in order to post.
Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in those Gray families - never saw so many
William Grays! And then there's Delilah Brown, sigh!
Kleenix call!

One thing i did notice though was that you have Thankful A. Lenox
listed as
the daughter of David & Elizabeth Lenox.
I recently came across THe Delaware County Biographies, on the internet,
that blists her parents as Isaac and Ann ( or Catherine)Masterson Lenox. It
also stated that Ann's parents were James and Thankful Masterson. By chance
have you seen this site yet? Where did they find this information ?
