Some social items from my mother-in-law's scrapbooks, circa 1927-28:
The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Virginia James, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W.V.
James, and Francis L. Hays, son of Mr. and Mrs. L.E. Hays, was announce last
evening at an attractive party given by Miss Reginia Hufford at the home of
her aunt, Mrs. G.L. Kurtz in South Council St. A blue and white color scheme
was used in the decorations and in the elaborate refreshments served to the
following guests: Miss James, Miss Beatrice Neely, Miss Elizabeth Phillips,
Miss Sarah Longnecker, Miss Evelyn Phillips, Miss Audrey Phillips, Miss Lois
Masters and Miss Hufford. Miss
James is a member of this year's class of Central High School (1927) and a
member of the P.A.C. Club. The wedding will be an event of August. (There
is also a copy of the marriage notice of Virginia, whom Bea called
"Jamesie", which I can send if you have further personal intersest.)
Jackson Orchestra Will Play for Radio
Paul Jackson's orchestra, "The Melody Makers" will broadcast a program from
Muncie Station WLBC at 7:15 o'clock this evening. Memeber sof the orchestra
are Paul Jackson, saxophone; Joseph Reed,
saxophone; Fred Jones, trombone; Garland Buckley, tenor banjo; Beatrice
Neeley, piano, and Russell Bryant, drums.
