I am afraid I don't have a lot of Davis information, and I just posted the
small
amount I have to Linda, but I will quickly recap:
Amos Davis married to Esther Ann Hill.
Their daughter Phoebe Catherine Davis born 1870
married John Alva Clevenger and had two children,
Olive (no birth date)
Milford 5/29/1898 in Windsor
I also know that Phoebe died very shortly after childbirth, leaving a
toddler and a newborn alone in their cabin. There is a story that Phoebe
knew she was near death from uremic poisoning and was, of course,
very worried about her two little ones. Olive, the toddler, was afraid of
feathers,
and so her mother laid a peacock feather in front of the cabin door to
prevent her from leaving the cabin. Evidently, her husband had left her and
their was contention between her and her family. A sad story, but it has
been passed down through the family as true.
Thanks for writing,
Marsha Clevenger Ring
