Hi gang
After many yrs of searching I think I have just made a break through on
one of my major BRICK WALLS.
In the 1880 Census for Delaware Co. Monroe Township. There is listed Susan
SMITH (age 46) and daughter Mary B. SMITH (age 14). My Ggrandmother and
GGgrandmother. They are living with a Benj. COOPER age 93 born in SC and
was Susan's grandfather. I then went back to the 1850 Census and found
Susanna SMITH age 15 living with Benj. SMITH age 63 in Martin Co. IN (Baker
Township). By the way... family history says that Susanna SMITH married a
man named John DeVINE but divorced him right after Mary was born and resumed
her maiden name of SMITH.
In 1883 Mary B. SMITH married David B. LYKINS, their daugher Vena Estel
LYKINS was my grandmother.
Does anyone have any information on this COOPER - SMITH connection.
Keeping my fingers crossed....
Thanks
Tom
