Lorrie,
The story of Jamestown, Tennessee, is true. Many people came north during
the war to work in the factories, made good money, stayed until they
retired, and then moved back, not to mention went home on weekends. In the
mid-60's when we lived on Mound St. in Muncie, we shared a duplex with a
young couple from Jamestown, and many of our neighbors down Howard St. were
also from
Jamestown and that area. We knew many people from that area, as well as
from Kentucky. Jamestown, TN, is in Pickett County, BTW...I remember the
newspaper they used to get was the
Pickett County Press.
Hope this helps,
Christine

Subject: [INDELAWA-L] JONES, Charles b. June 1918
Hi again everyone,
I received a call this a.m. that gave me a few details that I had been
missing on
the Charles Jones I am seeking info on...one item, being that I
had his birthdate wrong...
here is the updated info...
Charles R. JONES
b. June 1918 (not 1913)
Wife's name: Elizabeth
Father's name: Martin JONES
He had 3 (or more) children
He was working at Warner Gear (now BorgWarner) in 1942-1945 (or longer)
The person that provided me with this info, also said that during the
early
40's Warner would bus workers up from Jamestown Tennessee, to work at
the plant--returning them to TN on the weekends...has anyone ever heard of
this?
Thanks to all :o)
