Cathy,
Someone may be able to give you a much better answer; however, reading from
diaglogue in the 1874 Delaware Co atlas, which you can order from the
Delaware Co Historical Alliance, the Hackley Reserve is land granted by the
Treaty of St Mary's to REbecca Hackley, a dau of Capt Wm Wells,
granddaughter of Miami Chief Little Turtle, and wife of Capt James Hackley
of the US Army. She was granted a section of land at Munsey town, on the
White River, so that it shall extend on both sides to include 320 acres of
prairie, at the horshoe bend. It is one mile covering the site of the old
Munsee town at the bend of the river. She was granted this land in
consideration of her father's services in the government. The atlas quotes
Haimbaugh's Delaware Co History as the source of information.
I'm a bit confused, because a "section" of land denotes approx 640 acres.
A blow-up of the area shows that Jacob Wysor bought up over 354 of
Rebecca's acres, the Fair Grounds took up another 40, and their area a
number of other bits of small acreages. Some of them have names, none of
them are Redpath. All told, this is more than 320 acres but perhaps less
than 640.
About the Redpath Tanyard, there was a Jacob Redpath in Niles Twp in 1874,
listed in the business directory as a farmer. Would a tanyard be a tanning
yard, as in animal hides?

Hi,
Does anyone have any information on the Redpath Tanyard in Delaware County?
I saw it on a map entitled the "Rebecca Hackley Reserve" in Delaware County.
I forget the date, maybe 1860's.
How would I go about finding out who the owners were or how long it existed?
Thank you for your help,
Cathy Lampshire
