Hi Ronald, Please contact me! My phone number is:559-322-7376. Please call me collect. I am Jean's daughter. I understand that my mom left Charles and the kids, never to be heard from again. Well, I am her daughter, and I just found out a few months ago that she was married before and had children. I also have 4 brothers. We were all born in Phoenix Az. Do you know where your nieces and nephews are? I would love more than anything to get in contact with them. I am sure they are curious what happened to their mom. Maybe even bitter, which is understandable. But it's no-body's fault. Maybe I can help them find some answers, and they can help me too. Please contact me!
Thank you.

GenFest was, once again, a success! A rough count shows we had about 25 in attendance for the Friday night lock-in and more than 80 showed up on Saturday. There was a computer catastrophe which took out a very large group of libraries but that was eventually resolved. Anderson Public Library has a great Indiana Room and they made a great host. (Thank you, Beth and crew!) I hope to have some photos and more details to post; will let you know when that happens.
GenFest 2007 is well in the works in Marion with Rhonda Stoffer at the helm. Be sure to watch their website for updates!

It was Friday morning, and that meant it was time for an activity that the teacher called 'add to the picture'. The teacher would call students to the chalkboard one at a time. The first student would draw an object on the chalkboard, and each following student would add something to the picture to make it a new picture.
The teacher called on James to start things off.
James returned to his seat.
The teacher called on Ernie next.
Ernie returned to his seat.
Now it was Suzy's turn.
Suzy returned to her seat.
Next, the teacher called Jerry to the board.
Jerry returned to his seat.
Kim was called to the board.
Kim returned to her seat.
About this time, little Johnny began waving his arm hysterically. Little Johnny was well known for being dirty-minded, so the teacher was reluctant to call on him for anything. But as the teacher looked at the picture on the chalkboard, she thought that there was no way that little Johnny could possibly do anything to make this picture dirty. So she called on little Johnny, and he ran to the chalkboard.
Little Johnny had done it again.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw the information I just posted. I suspect your Catherine Hoover was the granddaughter of David Hoover and Catherine Hartle rather than the daughter. In an earlier posting, it was noted that a Catherine Hoover died September 15, 1834 and that she was the "sister of E. and N." That is probably the daughter. Stil another Catherine Hoover died later.
Hopefully, another Hoover researcher can clarify the pedigree of the various Catherine Hoover's.

I can only help with your item 1, Catherine's parents. They were David Hoover and Catherine Hartle. Catherine Hoover had at least 7 siblings. If you contact me directly, I can provide 6 earlier generations of the Hoover/Huber line and 3 generations of the Hartle line.
I am a descendant of one of Catherine Hoover's sisters, Sarah Hoover.

Shirley,
Thanks for your reply ! I should have clarified myself more.
I don't mean the Orphanage or the Children's Home. I know where it was.
I mean a County Home for older people. I have a John Maka
or Maki in my family lines.
I've been told that he was resident of the County Home and possibly died there in the late 1940's.
I've worked on him for quite awhile, with no luck,as far as his
death or burial.
John isn't listed in the Obit Card File at the Gen Library,I've
checked with Meeks, they don't have him in their records.
I'm currently trying to check at Parson's.
On one of my trips to Muncie,I've went through all the actual
Death Records for the 1940's,at the courthouse, didn't find him there either.
I was born in Muncie, still have family there. Over time,I've
done alot of searching at the Gen Library on my families plus
I mess around with a little bit of Volunteer Research for
people that need help.
Some of my people have given me a rough time, when trying to locate family records.
Just haven't hit the right place on John Maka / Maki,to find his
death & burial. Been told that he was buried by the county
and is possibly buried at Beechgrove.
I'll get with Donna at Beechgrove, when time permits.
Thanks
Rosie

Rosie, Indeed there are several pages on the Delaware County Home. There are also some census records on there but as far as death records and such, I expect you'll need to go to the usual places.
