Shirley - Some city directories did have cross listings by addresses, so the request wasn't as off the wall as it might seem.
Still waiting for someone searching Mansfields, Crums and Andrews and still looking for someone who knows the whereabouts of Kelly Runyon who had Mansfield info that I would like to get source information about.

Hello List,
Has anyone tried to access the Court Records or Meek's Mortuary Records lately??
I tried a few weeks ago and couldn't get them to open.
I decided to try again tonight and nothing again!
Just wanting to know if it is only me with the problem or if it is down for everyone.

Nathan is my 3G G/D. He was a Justice of the Peace from about 1827 to 1829. In 1829 he died at his brother Isaac's home in the south part of the county. He was married to Ruth Frazier.
Was wondering if there is any record of how he died. Also whether or not there are papers associated with the time period when he was J of P.
Thanks

Looking for a Scott family that lived in Muncie, IN
Robert & Bertha Scott (b. Scotland)
children: Robert A. Scott & James S. Scott
1930 Census, Muncie, Delaware, IN
Robert Scott, 48 b. NJ
Alma, 44 b. IN
next door
James S. Scott, 35, b. NJ.
Alma Loucks married Robert Scott on June 3, 1913 in Ft. Wayne, IN. Alma was born May 24, 1885 d/o Amos Loucks and Nellie Werle Coe.
Both brothers were listed as Hardware Merchants.
I am not able to find them in the 1920 census. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
John Phineas Preston lived in Delaware, Randolph, and Henry County, IL.
I am been "exploring" to see if he might fit into my Preston family tree, but so far, he has no parents. (He was beamed down by space aliens!)
He married Mary Booher Keisling on May 16, 1851, in Delaware County, IN.
According to a family Bible, Mary's oldest children were:
(1) William Norman born December 9, 1840
(2) Mary Ann Norman born March 25, 1844. (She married a Nelson per her mother's will.)
(3) Dulcina Jane Norman born January 20, 1848. (She married an Ogle per her mother's will.)
I do not know Mr. Norman's first name. If she took her Keisling name back, was she divorced?
The oldest daughter of John Phineas and Mary (Keisling) Preston was Sarah Elizabeth Preston.
She married Isaac Arnold DeWitt on August 24, 1871, in Delaware County, IN C5-512.
I don't know what happened to Isaac DeWitt, but in Mary (Keisling) Preston's will, she refers to her daughter as "Sarah Eliza Yingling", with children Nora, Homer, Cora, and Omer Yingling.
So apparently Sarah gave birth to three DeWitt children: David O., Bertha V. and Emma ; and appears on the 1880 census as a widow with children David O., Birtha, & Emla!
So some time after 1880, she married John Yingling (reference: FamilySearch.org) and had Nora, Homer, Cora, and Omer?
Does anyone know who John Phineas Preston's parents were?
Does anyone know when and where Isaac Arnold DeWitt died?
Sarah "DeWitt" died on November 23, 1936, in Camden, NE.
I wonder why she did not keep her second husband's name?
Any thought on all of this anyone?

In a project to make records available to the public, some years ago
volunteers at the Indiana State Archives sorted through records from the
Knightstown Children's home and put them in a database. There were some
letters included in the files. I didn't work on this project, and I remember
one woman writing back to Knightstown, telling the administrators how the
boy they had received had enriched their lives.
So it wasn't all bad.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I know I would qualify for DAR on both
sides of my family but don't feel the need to be a member. I have gotten
enough information elsewhere and know I won't find anything more thru
DAR.

The main reason I joined was to prove that people who do genealogy on the
internet are not careless compilers of names. I believe in the next few
years they will have to do some rule changes, as more and more of the
documentation is lost, and younger women are going to be a necessity to this
group. Sharon
